7 tips to declutter your business and increase productivity

Inspired by a live broadcast I did last week on Periscope where I shared some tips on decluttering your business. See below for my 7 tips to declutter your business and increase productivity.
Set aside 1-2 days to complete the 7 steps, your business and body will thank you, you’ll be able to give more of your energy to essential tasks and feel less overwhelmed by your to-do list.
- Write a list of all the projects you would like to do, if you have a book you want to write, a Podcast to start, a new collection you would like to design, an album to write add them to this list.
- Now lay out three pieces of paper, at the top of each sheet write 0-12 months, 2-3 years, 5 years+. Now looking at your list of projects, add your project to the relevant sheet, for example, you may want to complete the album within 5 years or you may want to start recording your Podcast next week so the Podcast would belong on the 0-12 months sheet and the album would belong on the 5 years sheet. If any of your projects do not fit into this time frame, write those on a separate list and file away.
- You can now file away your 5 years sheet and begin focusing on the remaining sheet. You will now need to draw out a 12-month calendar and start marking the 12-month calendar when you would like to complete each project. As you go through this stage some of the projects you had set for the next 12 months, may fall onto the 2-3 years sheet. Now file away your 2-3 years sheet.
- Now you’ll need to write a list of everything you’ll need to do to make each project on your 12-month calendar happen. Intentional projects.
- Set aside 1 day per week to schedule your project’s tasks into your weekly tasks, I would suggest working on a maximum of 3 projects per week.
- From your weekly projects list, you can work out which day of the week each task needs to be completed and by whom.
- Looking at your weekly tasks, you now have a workable daily schedule
By using this productivity method you will find you have more space to focus on the task at hand as opposed to a task that doesn’t need to be completed until next month, next year or beyond. It will also help you decide which new opportunities to take on as you’ll see your year planner clearly and will see how these projects fit into your business goals.
