I arrived at the iconic 1960’s Rose Lipman Building, located in Haggerston (between Hoxton and Dalston,) Last Thursday was a beautiful addition to London, Summer 2015 so I wasn’t expecting many people to attend on such a lovely evening.
I tried to prepare myself by preparing some answers in my head for questions the crowd may ask but I really didn’t know what to expect. The event was due to start at 6:30pm, I arrived early to 6:15 and already a crowd had filled the reception area.
For many years I’ve wanted to become a public speaker, but only this year I started to tell people and within a 4 weeks I was presented this amazing opportunity to join this speakers panel. Hosted by General Assembly London, I was asked to join the panel of speakers to discuss ‘launching and building a fashion start-up’ leaning on the experience gained launched and running my luxury lingerie brand Edwards & Millers.
Located in the very retro Rose Lipman theatre, velvet curtains, small stage school looking stage, I entered the arena and introduced myself to the GA team then sat back to here David Pool’s presentation on Fashion collaborations (David Poole Co-founder & Director, Slashstroke -a multilateral creative organisation working with a wide range of clients from Art, Fashion, Design and Education offering bespoke projects from live interactive events, educational programs, Creative Direction and production.)
After a short interval I was invited to the stage, Joined by Kristina Dimitrova Founder of INTERLACED (INTERLACED brings together 4 key audiences shaping the future of fashion – fashion tech pioneers, corporations, academia and the wider public,) Ieva ZuFounder and Editor-in-Chief, Fashion Bloc (a London based creative project representing hand-picked fashion designers from Central and Eastern Europe) and Lora Schellenberg the event facilitator to share my experiences, answer questions and participate in my first speakers panel to a group of hall of 90 fashion business enthusiasts.
It was a great pleasure to share my insight and experience at this event.
